All around us famous people have been quoted with the fear of missing their calling:
- “I do not want to wake up one day and discover I had not lived” ~ Ralph Waldo Emmerson (Writer/Poet)
- “This kind of opportunity comes but once in a lifetime” ~ Clint Eastwood (Actor)
- “One life, one love, one moment to do what you’ve been told” ~ Bono (U2 Lead Singer and Humanitarian)
- “If you had, one shot, or one opportunity. To seize everything you ever wanted. In one moment. Would you capture it, or just let it slip?” ~ Eminem (Grammy Rapper)
Everyone in life experiences financial hardships, difficult life circumstances, critics that state this kind of dream does not apply to them, and yet the IMPOSSIBLE continues to take place every day.
What did all the people who chased a dream and succeed have in common?
Faith & Vision
Those who are successful have faith in the vision or dream that has been planted in their hearts. They believe they have a calling or life purpose to share their natural gifts and God-given talents with the rest of the world. They are confident that the same God (Spirit) that planted the dream within them will give them the tools and ability to finish what has been started.
Plan, not Perfection
Dreamers who were successful recognized that success starts one step at a time. They did wait not wait for perfection, or wait until the vision was 100% planned, or wait until the end result was 100% clear. Like a toddler, they started with a crawl – a step good enough to begin the work of their dream. Perfection is the ENEMY of Good and the DEATH of a Dream.
Faith in Action
The first step is always a frightening point in time. However, without the courage to take the step, or in some cases a leap of faith, the end goal cannot be realized. The first action step for come may have been creating a business plan, letting down a wall in a personal relationship, or applying for a loan. Maybe the first step was simply stating the dream out loud. Successful dreamers dared to take action with the faith that the end goal would be realized.
The exciting part about what famous AND ordinary people have experienced in their lives as miracles is that the opportunities are available to everyone.
It begins with a vision – we are all created with a purpose and gifted to fulfill our calling. It requires a plan to implement the dream or vision – not perfection, simply a plan. And finally, it requires the faith and courage to take action. Faith, without works (action), is dead – it is just a thought in our head that serves no one and keeps us stuck.
Miracles happen all the time. However, even miracles begin with faith in the possibility of an impossible dream.
What is your vision or life purpose? What is the first action step you need to take today?
You only get one life, one opportunity
To bust through obstacles and fear,
One chance to share your unique gifts and talents
One season to reach others
Within your sphere of influence,
One moment to encourage others to share their gifts
With the rest of the world.
Will you wake up one day and discover you missed it?
